URBAN GEODES
Artist/Graphic Designer, Paige Smith has been a busy little bee installing these paper gems all around Los Angeles for her latest art project called ‘GEODE’.
The 3D paper sculptures are placed into existing spaces to mirror natural mineral formations. If you follow the link here, it’ll take you to a map the artist provides so that you can hunt down one of these urban treasures yourself.

ISO System 216 sideboard by Simon Moorhouse
From Invisible City, a sideboard with drawer and cupboard dimensions based on paper sizes using international standard ISO paper standards (ie., A4). ISO System 216 is part of Simon Moorhouse’s new Incunabular furniture line. Via a partnership with a UK-based furniture maker, it will be “Made in Britain.”

Sculptural practices are at once defined and restrained by their connections to tradition. When viewing woodworking in the context of objects made with wood; housing, particularly stick frame construction, emerges as possibly the most widespread use of the material throughout the modern world. Utilizing these techniques in a studio based practice, it is my hope to further the conversation on how notions of production fit into the world of contemporary art.
